Yesterday while talking to my mother on the cordless phone a female voice began to break though at a loud volume. I assumed this was interference from a neighbour’s cordless phone and thought nothing more of it. As we talked the voice continued to come through in bursts, at a level louder than our conversation, but not in a way that I could make the words out. I have heard interference from neighbouring phones before and this seemed unusual. My digital recorder happened to be right next to me and I started it and held it up to the ear piece just as our call was ending. A second after I said “Bye” the voice came through, and on listening to the recording I hear her saying “one eleven”.
Phone voice: “One eleven”
Let’s look at reasons why this might not be everyday cordless phone interference:
- The brevity, cadence and character of the voice is very consistent with voices received through EVP and radio.
- The voice appears immediately after we exchange goodbyes and the call is wrapped up, as opposed to overlapping with the preceding eight seconds of conversation recorded.
- It is fairly clear that the phrase spoken is “One eleven” - this is a number that I have for a long time considered to be a sign of positive affirmation or encouragement when seen on a licence plate, clock, etc.
- The voice comes through at a significantly higher level than my mother’s voice. When I have experienced phone interference before, the voices are at the same level as the current conversation.
- There were others talking nearby, but there is a potential EVP just before the recording ends, saying “A key line” or “A key one”.
- The interference occurred while I happened to have my recorder next to me fully charged.
We’ll see if it happens again.

I’ve added a page to the site for the EVP’s of Chris Wilson, based in the U.K. These have some remarkable musical sequences in them. They are similar to some of my radio clips in that there is often an “MC” introducing or confirming the completion of transmission of music.

Ghostly Talk part 2 mp3 - I’m in the 1st half of this one

A few things going on. My Reality Sandwich article about ITC went up, titled “Ghosts in Our Machines”. I’ve received lots of feedback and there are still some good discussions going on in the comments. Author Daniel Pinchbeck is chief editor of that site and was very enthusiastic about the article and subject.
It’s interesting that on the day the article went up, I starting getting good radio voices for the first time in months. Couple days later I got perhaps the most beautiful transmission yet. I recently started using two radios at once, which I haven’t done in some time. I have been running both radios on the same frequency I noticed that with this transmission and the previous one, the voices were coming out of only one radio. First time it was the left one, second time, the right one.
This clip follows the variety show format of talking and singing that I have often had before. They appear to be introducing a singer, so I can “keep her on disk”. The singing is very haunting, with an other-worldly sounding vibrato, and is the clearest and longest musical transmission I’ve received. Here it is.
Transcription of this sequence:
0:00 female - “here comes the (fufu ?)”
0:02 other female “so you can keep her on disk”
0:04 first female “here it comes”
0:06 female singing, exotic, a strange otherworldly vibrato
0:18 female “a little dream, for you”
0:22 male “a little old church”
0:26 more singing
